how about a favourite; sealed enclosures produce better bass than ported ones.

Oh that IS a good one. Of course I disagree. I believe that no single enclosure type is superior to any other in all situations for all drivers.

I also believe that vented boxes kick total ***

Life is full of trade-offs. As a general rule: Sealed can give you tighter, more controlled bass in lower frequencies, but need lots of power to do it. Ported are way more efficient but because it's "tuned" to a specific frequency, it's limited to it's scope.

Vented = more output in the range you can actually hear. Less excursion in that same range too. That can equal more power handling and potentially less mechanical distortion.
