For me I will pay up to 30$ per event. But I just hate doing it.
But what would make it better is free cd at every competition when you pay for registration.
Better advertising. Don't just think one radio station will do it. I want to see posters in almost any auto parts store I go into (including canadian tire).
Oganized. I hate going to competitions and having them run around lkike there heads are cut off, then I end up sitting out in the hot sun for mroe hours than I wanted.
Which brings up another point, shade. I actually get sick when in the sun too long, and get a major head ache. If theres shade I will sit there and get comfy.
Giveaways
Crowd partisipation
Prizes other than trophys
A crazy class. Somthing that doesn't make sence, but you will do it just because it's fun (I can't think of anything though)

Lol, if your talking about me. I suck it up.
I was just saying what could make the show better and more appealing. He asked for suggestions, and I gave him what some of us regular street beaters want.

your point well taken. i was going to suggest the same. more organized shows are better. but u have to understand that more than half the shows (SPL ones anyways) are put on by spl competitors themselves as opposed to some sort of an organizer or a sponsor. we do what we can but we are alot better at makin loud boxes than organizing/running an event.

who ever is loudest on the meter will be loudest plane street style as well. every 3 db's is twice as loud. think about that. if one person does 143 and another one 146 who do u think will be louder to the ear?

and posters in every auto store..........who's gonna pay for that??? everyone is complaining (or givin suggestions......which is the same thing really) about things that cost money, money and more money.

Trophies = money
posters = money
prizes = money
free prizes = sponsors wants to keep all the entry fees.......so money
location = sometimes money
good location = money
radio = bling bling chedda money
government regulations = pain in the *** (yes, there are many, u'd be surprized)
food = money, time and effort

and after all this people wont go to local shows that are $15 and u get a plaq.

everyone needs to stop complaining and just start goin to shows, regardless of how big or small it is. this is neccessary to show that there is indeed interest and financial backing for this sort of sport/event. I have been to all sorts of shows, big, small medium, organized, disorganized, close, far, very far, with nice trophies, with crap trophies, with no triphies, with 50 competitors and with 3 competitors.....the point is that when someone holds a show they know I (and other hardcore spl guys) will be there no matter what. Everyone needs to get out and show support - so next time there is a show being planned the organizers will know that !!!!YOU!!!! will be there. And the more of "YOU's" the organizer is sure will show up the bigger of an event he/she will plan. Just saying "yah i will be there" means absolutely NOTHING. Get out and attend the event!!

Yuli is right..

plain and simple - if people do not support the smaller shows, guess what, there will be no bigger shows.

I think a huge factor that is preventing dB drag from expanding is veterans in street classes (not saying it is the veterans' fault though, they are just trying to get loud). I know when I started 4 or so years ago, I was able to be competitive in most competitions with a 147 or so on the old termlab. The fact that I didn't get stomped every single time I competed ended up bringing me back. I believe that a person's future in SPL will be strongly influenced by their experience at their first competition(s). My first competition I got second place by 0.2 dB and all the competitors were close, so I was fueled to come back and do better.

If I had started this season with the same 147 (about 142 on the new meter) considering many people are now hitting over 150 easily in street, I would likely not come back. Getting beat by 10dB is too much for most street beaters, so they just drop it. Even at shows last year when I was hitting in the 150's vs. people who were in the 30's or 40's I wondered how many potential dB draggers were never going to come back. (I actually moved out of street for this reason; I felt I was hindering the growth of the sport with every show I went to). For veterans who know dB drag and simply do not have the funds to move up, this is not an option though.

I think whenever possible (at the large shows at the very least) the veterans and the street beaters have to be separated, even if they fall under the same class in dB drag. I know it is hard to always be fair in the separation but the more we can keep veterans vs. veterans, the more new people that can focus on competing against each other. If you are a veteran street competitor who can afford to move up, do so. Most event sponsers can tell the difference between a new competitor and a veteran, and it should be their responsibility to make sure they are not against each other (through mini-street, "pro" class, etc.) and it is the veterans' responsibility to make sure they are in the veteran class. I know it is very hard to implement and enforce, but it is very important if we want dB drag to keep growing.
