I could see your point with the spray Hardwrkr... But, the cops also have a foam version they use for exactly that reason... and trust me the **** is effective on anything that breathes...
They also have several other non leathal weapons... including wax/beanbag/rubber(ect) rounds that can be fired from regular firearms that will most definatly put a person or animal down....
MR2.. yes I know statistics can be manipulated in various ways, but you still don't know what you are talking about.... why do you think a bill was introduced in the first place?
stats Canada says more then 12% of canadians smoked recreationally in 2002... that number jumps to nearly %70 for those in the 18-24 age bracket... 1/3 the country has said they've puffed before.. and I also recall reading that more then half of the same demographic supported decriminalization (Ie THE AVERAGE CANADIAN).... that is STATISTICS CANADA reporting... not 'hippies4druguseincanada.com'...
Likewise your scenario with the power wires is nether here nor there...
the fact that you think a single voltage will cause the same amount of current flow in both wires despite the difference in resistance is pretty funny though...

Haunz: you're our new hero at work, you've found an entirely new electricity where voltage creates heat, but current doesn't.
his analogy was perfectly appropriate, if you had 60 amps, any voltage you'd like, doesn't matter, running through 20 guage wire, it will generate heat, running through the 4 guage wire it won't generate an appreciable amount of heat, this works for any voltage, doesn't matter. the resistance of the wire has almost nothing to do with it. how about 10 feet of 4 guage, and 10 feet of 4/0, and 500 amps... the difference in the resistance of the wire is virtually nil, and will barely register on a 5000V micro-ohm meter, also known as a ductor. I've tried it, it doesn't register at all. but the large current WILL cause heat to build up in the 4 guage, but not nearly as much in the 4/0.
you have no clue about electrical theory whatsoever, you've read ohm's law, and seen some stuff in a book. come to work, and I'll show you electricity in action.
of course, you don't have to, you're in university, so that makes you smarter than anyone else

DW if you can't find the #s dont bother making up your own.... it was something like 51% of whatever demographic stats can found supported decrimalization... 90% supported for medicinal use... maybe Iam wrong on that front but I don't think so... (Ill admit its been awile since I saw the stats myself so feel free to find em yourself and prove me wrong)
and the dog was not 'comming' at anyone... I see the point about being cautious and everything, but using deadly force in a situation where its not necassry is over the top in my books....

Haunz, I know very well what intermediate and lethel weapons are available to police officers. A dog is not a human though and as a threat it may mean termination is necessary. Leave it at that.
I can see that your mind is already made up but please understand that you are viewing these actions based on what was told to you (and not by the police that were there). You have seen one side only and do you really know if it is accurate information (don't bother answering just think about the fact that the opinion and details may be slanted). You also don't know the extent of what was stated to the police and if more than one person gave information to them (accurate or not).
Drug laws exist whether you agree with them or not. If you or your friends get charged according to the narcotics laws please blame yourselves and no one else.
I do hope your sister surrounds herself with better people in the future.
