You still need the gear, enclosure, wire, and time.
like i said...if you know what your vehicle responds best to...its really not that difficult. If you go in guessing then yes it can be a long drawn out process. Spend a week with your own sensor testing a few enclosures and junk gear and you'll know what your car likes.

spl for the most part is vehicle dependant, some are much easier to get louder than others.
i hit a 150.3 with the black colt, but would have hit higher with the brown colt.
i'm currently hitting 152.5 it took some time to learn.
it's like the fiat panda that a member has on the board, it will require time to discover what will make it louder.

My 4 cents is that you are ugly, which prevents you from breaking a 150!!! How is that? haha

First things first, Big 3 upgrade, lowest resistance on ground wires, Because good bass response is ALL ABOUT THE BOX PERIOD!!!...."Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario, and in return it will reward you at all times", in other words if you are wanting to get the most spl , BUILD YOUR BOX LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT .. for example my current setup is 4 15" subs in 4 individual boxes walled off in a 2001 Chevy S10 extended cab, as far as spl well i have a Termlab Program and Meter and it is set up in dbdrag format or (legal spl) and it meters above 160 dbs and it is a daily driver , so my point is if you really want more spl , build the Right Box and you will not be dissapointed period

Since we're all adding pennies to this, here are mine.
When I built my first spl box with all new equipment that I had never used before. I finished putting it all together the morning of my first competition. My first run, I hit 137.2 I did a little tuning and second run I hit 139. Some more playing around, and third time around that same day I hit 144. Now that's with a box that wasn't properly ported, properly positioned or any of that . That was my first and last time I competed, which was one of the last events here in 2008.

When I hit 144 that day, it was with a stock battery, stock altinator, in a 96 Eagle Talon with one Orion HCCA 15.2 sub, and one Orion HCCA D5000 amp.

I'm pretty confident I will hit 150+ in my first competition of this season. Of coarse, after the new build and better battery.

This doesn't really have anything to do with this thread besides that I gained db's in just tuning.

im aware that tunning is key im at 148 now and im having a box box built plus the 148 is without my second audysy battery I hit 148 when I was running the stalk car battery and one audysy battery

I highly doubt youll hit 150 in your first competion going from 144 unlesss u have a meter and do a shitload of testing realistically thats alot of db to gain in a short amount of time
