Well, I understand that there's a load of testing involved...having said that, just playing with it over a period of 45 minutes got me from 137.2 to 144... in my first competition; so I don't think that 150+ is unrealistic. I may sound like I'm being cocky, but although this will be my second time competing, I've been around this scene for quite sometime. My cousin Raymond...many people knew him on here as Ray-Ray...he came second in the world finals back in 2006 I think it was. So I know a thing or two about what it is I'm doing.
Considering that the box I had before was not well thought out, nor tuned properly. I have quite a few veterans from around here helping me out so I think that the odds are in my favor. Time has nothing to do with how much db you gain. It's all about experience and how well you know your setup and what it's capable of. I went into that last (first) one, completely blind; merely to see where it is that I'd be starting at.

150 with that much power and hardly any tuning probably will not happen right away in your setup. Infact Id bet that you stay in the 146-147 range for a while.

However, keep tuninig and building new enclosures over and over and you should see a 150 out of it by the end of the year.

There really arent very many street cars in BC over 150 db.
as of last season there were..
Norman Wong
James Chevrette
Custom Dale
Dustin Page

Altough there could be more

That's cool, but then again...there were people that told me that I'd never come close to even 140 in my car with that setup. They were wrong. Maybe I'm wrong too, who knows. I'm just being optimistic, and I think the only thing not on my side is not having enough room. Aside from that, this sub and amp are both capable of 150+. The word in Canada isn't that great about Orion. But then you go south of the border to California and Florida, most of those guys will swear by it. I guess I'll just have to prove you wrong. :P

Time has alot to do with it, SPL is more trial and error than anything. But some general knowledge will get you a good start.

the main quality your gear should have to break a 150 is durability. You're basically going in blind starting from nothing and arent sure which enclosure designs will work best in your vehicle. Thats when you're more likely to wreck gear compared to when everything is dialed in and you're just altering your designs for a tenth at a time. Shoot me a PM if you want help with enclosure design on your car....im in abbotsford so am fairly close.

Thanks man, but I've already nailed down an enclosure for my car...been doing tonnes of research over the past three months. This will be the sixth and seventh ones that I'm trying in my car. Orion gave me a few designs as well for an spl enclosure versus music enclosure. So I am making two...one for each. I don't think durability is really a factor with my equipment. I know anything is capable of destruction, but I've been using Orion since way back when it wasn't DEI, and even now it's just as solid as back then. I used to run an old school Orion HCCA 150r amp (the big red original cheater amp as it came to be known as) and this new stuff I have is just as solid as the old school. Orion has done a series of tests putting my equipment up against several others like Kicker, RF, blah blah...and none of them even come close. Here's the link:

YouTube - hcca vs

And here's a link to my sub:

ORION - HCCA-15.2

*my amp is also there, search HCCA D5000 there.

you are such a poor, misguided child. Let me give you a peice of advice that orion never will - get your own spl meter and box building skills.
