well i gotta say. the deck is amazing, sounds unbelievable.
but i have a couple complaints.

the remote is terrible. the layout/functionality is amazing. but i planned on using it on the steering wheel with the adaptor, and the infrared simply isn't strong enough to work unless the remote is pointed directly at the headunit. ...and for all the quality of this unit, the scroll circle thing simply feels cheapish:S

also, the faceplate shifts while connected, it is not a firm connection at all.

seeing as i only had a couple of minutes to play with it, thats all i can comment on now, but those are just my first impressions. regardless, i know i am not going to be dissapointed with the unit speed is very good though.

....and just a side note, i cannot use the ipod when connected. only functions through the headunit itself.

well i take back the control of ipod only through the unit...you can do both if you switch a setting.

i haven't done a back to back of the same track, but just by ear, i cannot tell even the sligtest difference.
output level is exact same.

well i am going to speak with pioneer in the morning, but for now, is there anyone on here that has had issues with the ipod connection?

i was listening through my ipod earlier today just fine, nothing had been changed on ipod or deck.
now when i try and use it, it just reads ERROR-19.

this indicates a communications error between the two.
i have performed all of the troubleshooting steps multiple times over to no avail.

any suggestions??

completely disconnect the deck from all power, wait 30 seconds and re-connect? maybe it just needs a hard re-boot, like your pc from time to time.

i've reset the microprocessor in it, but have not disconnected all power yet. we'll see how it goes.

well i am 100% happy i waited to buy from canada instead of a group buy. already making use of the warranty.
(service time on the imports would have sucked!)
spoke with pioneer today and they know its the unit, they just don't know why its doing what its doing. so because its only a week old im just doing a straight exchange. i'm not paying for a high end unit and having to wait for repairs 1 week in:P.

...so back to no music again

Wow! Is the P99 made in Japan like the P01? I'm scared now...
