My Build Log - Chevy Dually
No , It is hosted in small town along the service road. This allows for no issues with law or complaints from the people in the area. But because of so much rain on the weekend past the show was cancelled . but did get some testing time for psyclone and loaded the amp to .25 ohm per board for a burp .tease me she did hahaha ,that 160 is so close . So now for box work and some door work as well.
Pulled off the door panel on pass side to see what is broken in there and making so much terrible noises. Found that big piece that hold regulator and door lock motor loose as well as loose rivets . Was going to remove it all , but just dont seem right for a daily driver. So gutted the door and glued some birch to the skin to strenthen it and then a sheet of RHS deadner , weld some angle on it as well. Filled the voids with foam , Hate that stuff with a passion but had to try it , door getting way to heavy for factory hinges .. have to modify the panel , but think will build new instead of reuse the old one.Did loose the inside door handle, but have to seal it some how , and poppers was not avail , so will be good for those who want to bail hahahaha ... Do have a cable ready to hook up that will installed later on . Now to finish the bondo work in the box and door panel before this weekend shows in edmonton and spruce grove, But have my doubts. Goin to be outta town for tues/wed and leaves tonight and thursday night to finish.
Well not much progressed since june , hit few more shows and got busy with life, Had sold house in town and moved out to an acreage so now I dont have to worry about complaints from the whole town when testing and playing
Did find that the firewall has leak in it so that be why #'s are down on it ..... Going to fun this spring when rip out the dash and fix the issue and then rebuild the dash again
As well the Doors are going to require some pretty intense reinforcement .

In the mean time , I had found a donor truck for the 6BT for real cheap and decided it is time. So picked it up and brought it home and started the tear down on it . 425000 k on it and the cummins still looks like new .
Replace head gasket now rather than later as they are prone to coolant leak by thermostat housing , Checked bearings and replace rod shells , too long sitting and oil became acidic which damaged them . Send the injectors in for rebuild , got 40Hp nozzles installed for an extra 30 each
as well a new feed pump . Did all the VE pump mods to make more power and smoke before pulled out . Quite a different feeling to do some adjustments and get more power rather than plug in a programmer and bump up the set points.

have to get burb pulled out of snow bank and into shop and start the removal of the driveline for the transplant. Dont recall how many years since we have this much snow this early in the fall. I would guess about '94 when had enough snow in mid october to ride snow machines. Not a good year to move to acreage I would say.... Maybe this weekend will get into shop and start, but needs to take a day and cut some firewood for heat so one can work in shop and get the swap done. I had originally thought before christmas but now I doubt that will happen. Still need to find gears for the corporate 14 bolt to get lower ratio , or else swap in the Dana 70 .... Time will tell.
Well It has been a long hard winter . Most snow we have had in 25yrs I bet . As well with the below normal temps and acreage living has pointed my time to other things . Such as not owning sleds in 20 yrs my kids and buddies spend out time doin that . But now that is coming to an end so time to get back to the project . Brought into shop and pulled drive train out and started the transplant . Going to be much more work than hoped it was going to be .
So after a test fit in place and mark the areas that needed modded to make it fit , went to town cutting the firewall to give clearance . But to weld it back up , I needed to get to inside of it to prevent / put out fires. So out with dash it was. Only a day in itself with the aid of a 5 ton bottlejack and 4lb hammer and 60" pinch bar. Once got to the heater core , Found where the 2db loss come from as well. There is a plastic panel over the heatcore area that had bust off from the bass and allow the pressure to pass straight out where the fresh air intake is . Hense the thought of blown winsheild gasket when seeking where the mass airflow was coming from . Needless to say that not happening again .
So once the firewall is sewn back up l glassed it to seal it , and then undercoated to help with some noise suppression perhaps ? and then painted over. Then planted the donor engine and trans in for the last time. Measure up new driveshaft lenth and had my machinist buddy farmer retube it and ditched the 2 piece shaft. As well the dodge alt was pcm controlled , but I am in need of more amperage. So mounted 2 of the AD244 alts up and will see about more later on . The large case leese Neville wont fit unfortunately . .. Will see about the driver side , If not they are for sale . Need to change out the 4.56 gears for 3.21 I picked up once rebearing them. Install front clip and fill with fluids .
