Well you can feel free to check me out, you'll find Who'sYourDaddy or whosyourdaddy listed here, sound domain, elite car audio, rec.audio.car, and a hand full of other forums going back into the early 90's. (back when where rec.audio.car was the only place for discussion of car audio via newsgroups) I am Chris Dilbeck and I'm in Atlanta Georgia. You'll also find that name as a registered user on termpro and over on the Autosound 2000 forums going back several years as well. I have no affiliation with the company what so ever. As for being anti-Onyx nothing could be further from the truth. I considered their products extensively quite some time ago when Ampman Audio was carrying them but at that time opted not to use them because I didn't know enough about their product or company. It was later on that I found many of the product similarities between the two and by then the choice had been made.

After years of being heavily active on the internet I slowly started to lurk more and contribute less. This is just one thread that jumped out at me as a bunch fussing over something that isn't anything new. You act as if your owed something. When the truth of the matter is that you bought a sub that has been performing as promised. Now this turns up and you suddenly feel that you didn't get your monies worth. Before this came up you were happy according to what you indicated earlier, now it's substandard. Yet your subwoofer did not change, only your perception. Your change in perception is based on a lack of information about the circumstances surrounding this situation so how can you make an informed decision?

I don't care if the subwoofer is made from recycled pork and bean cans. They are loud as hell, and in fact too loud for me to listen to anywhere near full volume for very long at all. Am I curious if I have one of these subs, there is an ever so slight bit of curiosity in the back of my mind. But it's not enough to go through the trouble to pull a perfectly good subwoofers out of the boxes and check them.

As mentioned by another person on here besides me, this happens a lot and often times was only covered with a sticker. I know that from first hand experience. You've now been inducted into one of the basic operating principles of the manufacturing side of this industry. There are quite literally thoursands of subwoofers out there that this exact same thing has happened wtih over the years.

For reasons we will never know Onyx decided not to use them. RE said, well gosh darn it, they are perfectly within tolerance for our use, so they used them. I don't blame them, and I would have to. If the tables were turned, you were running the build house, and and you had the man hours, and materials into them you would have too. They wouldn't have used them if they weren't up to specs, and their proven performance is all the proof required.
