Interesting..
I aim to please!
In all seriousness though.. I'm taking alot of heat from some people for posting those pictures..
Someone brought these pictures to my attention and though that people had the right to see them.. Realistically it is not my fault for any of this.. RE obviously made a mistake, whether it was accidental or intentional we'll probably never know. But these should have obviously should have been removed.
I honestly do not think this will effect sales of RE products. IMO If anything does effect the sales it will be decisions made and the actions carried out by the people who own/work at RE.
Well what I am pretty much trying to say is I do not have grudge or anything against RE or Oynx (or any other company that has been brought up in this thread). Nor am I saying either has bad products, and I am definatly not trying to persuade people from buying either of thier products.
I just hope everyone understands why I brought these pictures to people attention..

And BTW my two cents, this issue is starting to get stupid and annoying. Everybody is saying the same things over and over, and you're all getting nowhere. </font>
This is the fastest growing thread i have seen
at the same time.. some people are repeating themselves.. but i guess there is no way to filter that out.. but i do beleive there will be more information by RE and Oynx posted.. (hopefully)..
^^ It is misdirected anger if you are getting heat. The phrase "don't shoot the messenger" applies here. Its as you said, you did nothing, just brought it to the light.
I'm glad to see that your hours of cruising the net for ways to amuse has paid off in this thread. Certainly a topic of discussion if nothing else.

this is what someone posted on ECA..
I've know about this for MONTHS... The motors weren't defective, they just weren't to the right specs for the coils that Onyx wanted to use... Its not like R.E. has been selling 'B' stock.

Why are there so many defected ONYX motors ??? Wouldnt ONYX make sure that there wouldnt be so many defected ones. Or maybe I dont know the process of making these motors yet. I wonder who JL audio is selling their defected motors to ?

Also on the note of the agreement, RE probably cannot refer to these drivers as anything other than "defective". If they reffered to them as "motors that were improperly machined" they would be giving away the defect and thus breaking their agreement.
Also, for all we know, the agreement simply stated that the Onyx logo no longer be visible. If this is the case, then glueing a black cover on them would be the cheapest and most practical solution to that problem.
The RE guy posted that there were 'tolerence issues' with the motor... so we know it's not cosmetic.. we also know that these subs haven't been blowing themselves up...
what could it be???
Obviously, the magnetic gap is a little too wide.... which means reduced BL... seems more then probable to me, anyway....
So, the Q is, did RE use slightly different coils??? I doubt it... Onyx simply has tighter QC, and RE got a deal....
Ummm... how come no one has compaired MSRP and whatnot of the two companies ??? I have a feeling that RE sells compairable subs for less... (or at least I hope so)....
Ummm... how many ppl have thier undies in a bunch over this, and no one has done anything to find the real difference yet???
What someone needs to do is to tear apart an Onyx, an RE and an RE/onyx and take percise measurements of the motor with thier vernier-caliper...
Hell, someone send me a couple subs and I'll do it.... Plus I'll measure & compair rated and real T/S param's, plus linear Xmax...
That's what needs to happen IMO....
For the record, it seems to me like both the onyx and ED guys are playing this out to thier advantage as best they can....
