i know forzani's (sporting goods company) gets sets of golf clubs in boxes, theres like what 12 clubs per set? if one club is scratched or damaged, they throw out the whole set, the other 11 clubs could be perfect, but they all get tossed, does this mean that another store who would simply sell the remaining 11 clubs individually is doing anything wrong?

This is off-topic to the RE/Onyx debate, but I wanted to share. Except for just under a year where I was not employed by them, I have worked at Home Depot since 1998 in six different stores in two states. You would not believe the millions of dollars of perfetly fine merchandise that has been thrown in the compactor. As Tha Game said, it is due to taxes and losses. To get the money for something they claim, no one may benefit from that product. Home Depot would quicker thow away tons of warped 2x4s instead of donating it to local Boy Scout troops for campfires...
The whole RE/Onyx debate...
I know little or nothing about Onyx. However, I have been a supporter of RE for about two years now. I have only been able to purchase two subs over that time due to financial reasons only. I have recommmended their products to many people. Each person who bought from RE was satisfied. If the customer is satisfied, then all should be well. I will continue to support this company.

Haunz just effectively, and hopefully!, ended this thread.
Its time to quit speculating and complaing or supporting your point. If people are THAT concerned, lets round a few up and test'm and see what comes up. Its that simple. We aint tryin to get to Mars from Houston, its just a motor for a speaker. Should be alot of people who are capable of testing them and finding the differences. I'll put my money its a non performance effecting difference. Anyone wanna start a pool?

if that's an advantage....so be it....what does it say when two companies who strive for quality control want nothing to do with that buildhouse?
IMO.. anyone with an RE sub which has a backplate that has the Oynx logo on it has all the right to be as angry/upset as they want. That's one thing you learn in the customer service industry (I worked for a company for 3 years that put customer service above almost everything)
For me.. the thought of someone using a part which was deemed "defective" from another company on a sub wouldn't make me too pleased if I owned one. Expecially if the company didn't honour thier agreement and remove markings. Hopefully RE will do the right thing and do something for the people which aren't too pleased with this.
And I have a feeling there is also more to the story than most people know or will know.

Interesting how some individuals want to kill this thread.......... why not just let people vent?! What do you care?!?! If you don't like it, no one forced you to come here and read it.
Or are you on a mission of some sorts

I was wondering, whats really the big deal. Company A found product defective for some reason. Company B bought them. I'm sure RE will support them. And I'm sure it happens ALOT in all industries. Bad form yes, but lets be realistic. How many monitors use a Toshiba or Sony tube? Probably 80% of them....
Perhaps Onyx intended the motors for their top of the line subs, wouldnt cut it so RE grabbed them for the lower lines where tolerances dont need to be as tight.
I think its safe to say RE's track record should stand for itself.
My .02 cents

Regarding the product... happens a lot. It's not good business to get caught. I think RE and Onyx had different ideas of what it meant to get rid of the Onyx logo... get rid and cover up are two slightly diff't ideas Anyways, what's done is done, if you are happy with your RE, why stress about it? (though quite frankly I'd be fuming)
