The agreement was that our logo was to be removed, not covered up. I did not want any defective parts hitting the market with the Onyx name/logo engraved in them, covered up or not...

It's not fair to take sides on whether a person "should or should not be" upset that their RE driver used these Onyx motors.
On one side, if they are geometrically correct, and the subs are working truly well, that's great.
On the other side, RE customers don't know what is "defective" with the parts on their subwoofers that they paid full price for.
You can't take sides, the 'unknown' itself is disturbing (or should that be potentially disturbing? ).

The thing that is most disturbing are statements made by RE on the topic, RE having close in-house ties to Destijl..
Scott from RE stating "I should have personally overseen the removal of the logos" would seem to indicate he can't trust his employees or staff to do things correctly.

The fact that a black disk was ever slated to be glued on to the backs of the motors would seem to contradict RE's claims that they had even planned to machine the logo off the back of the woofers...
If they were going to machine the logos off the back of the motors, why would it be necessary to glue a disk to the back of the motors?

And of course, the unknown on exactly what was defective. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt that these motors were at least geometrically correct and structurally sound - but it is all simply unknown, with no plans by either Onyx, RE, or Destijl to comment on exactly what was "defective".

What do you want to know about the subject?
This thread has grown to 10 pages long, but it's still been largely 10 pages of either speculation, or rehashing statements that have been made.

The eyes grow weary, without questions being answered, or even a goal being established...

and I don't mean just here, but all forums where this is being discussed.

Chirs B + geolemon; Thank-you for saying that only the people who own an affected sub can decide how they think or feel about this situation. I appreciate it.

dawg; I asked to have this thread locked because I had grown very weary and did not want to spend my Sunday at the computer defending my position. I realize now that was selfish. I have nothing to hide. This was thrust upon me. I didn't ask for it.

I'd like to hear from hrdwrkr (sp?). Last we heard he was heading out with screwdriver in hand.

Don't know where this data came from but I can tell you first hand that we get very few woofers back for service. I'd say over 95% of the woofers sent back werent caused by manufacturers defects but rather abuse.

For the record, it seems to me like both the onyx and ED guys are playing this out to thier advantage as best they can....
the only thing i see them saying is "WE ARE NOT AND DO NOT WANT TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH DESTIJL/RE EVER AGAIN."

if that's an advantage....so be it....what does it say when two companies who strive for quality control want nothing to do with that buildhouse?
