Scott Atwell / Destijl Engineering, you were not allowed, according to our Non Disclosure Agreement, to disclose ANY information regarding these defective parts other than the fact that they were defective. I, as I always do, have kept up my commitments to you, even when they aren't in the best interests of my company. I have been unable to contact you by phone, and as I'm sure you are checking these forums regularly, here is my message: If I do not hear from you by 6:00pm Saturday 10/04/03, and if the comments regarding the nature of the defects that have been posted by either you or your employees have not been removed, I will contact my attorney. I have wasted way too much of my time, money, and sanity dealing with these discrepancies and I won't do it any longer. You have been warned. This could have been avoided had you followed our specific guidelines. If the truth is damaging to RE, that's on you and your lack of responsibility.

WOW this just got real interesting.......
I can vouch for Dopns inhumans for being of very high build quality, we were able to kill many major SPL based brand name drivers but Inhumans were the only ones that were tested that would take the 4 Visonik V4000d amps run at .8 ohms with out glue joints and what not shredding. Also i can say that I have never seen a motor or any other part on another woofer that resembles the parts on our Treo's. I believe Treo manufactures their parts in house. but that is just my 0.02 cents and I am not trying to start anything with anyone else. I have a few RE xxx 15's here at the shop, I have spoken to Scott from Onyx many times, all of the products out there are awesome and in no way are inferior to another but all are application specific and some will perform better then others with x amout of power and in x amount of air. As for the said " Fly By Night" internet companies I feel that in many respects these are the way to go, Major corporations know that they have the established names out there and no matter what people will always associate the name to good product. Now smaller companies such as Onyx, RE, eD, and even companies like Treo ( not so much an internet comapny but still not a comonly known name to people outside of the SPL world) all of these companies have something to prove, they are coming into a highly competitive market were major companies like RF, JL, and so on have had years to establish there name and these smaller companies are doing what they can to compete with the multi billion dollar corporations. I applaud people like that who want to take a run at the big guys and I say you have some HUGE NUTS and good for you.

As stated before. RE purchased parts from Onyx Audio that were defective. We are using these defective parts in both our SE and HC series speakers.

My sincerest appologies to Scott and all at Onyx. Again, this is a glaring oversight on my part that I did not personally see to the removal of each logo from the motor structures.

Please do not direct any of this towards either Scott or Onyx. They have a business to run that does not need to be concerned with questions regarding there fine products. Onyx is in no way connected to RE, and again, this is completely an oversight on my part.

I am wondering how long these defective motors have been in use.

Its obviously not a problem their have been no complaints, or very few that the woofers do not work.

If it didnt matter back then why does it matter now?

And to the person that said db don deleted the post on his forum, who is to say that don deleted it, he does have other moderators.

Even if he did delete it...so what? Don makes a living by selling subwoofers, he is just trying to keep his head above water.

And yes he may not reply to posts, or emails very fast, and its not the matter of the topic. I sent him an email regarding the purcahse of an 800 dollar sub, didnt get a reply that day or the next.

Why? because don gets more than one email a day. And if its some kid saying that hes selling crap I for one would not blame him for deleting it

What kind of response is that????..........no explanation, no apologies to customers......I guess they really don't care about the customers or of what people think of their product. In the very least try and sound more professional about what happened and ease the minds of your paying as well as future customers. It seems like Onyx cares much more about RE customers than RE itself. Oh well.......I juess just another customer lost!

Are you even listening to yourself? I could understand if it took him sometime to respond to my post, but it was DELETED! I am not some "kid" saying he is selling crap, in fact the post that I put up had a link to the pictures and asked what is going on. I am a 30 year old consumer looking for some answers, not some punk kid trying to stir up crap. And why would you assume that someone would post that dbdon is selling "crap" as you put it? The fact that you would assume that pretty much says it all.

It matters now because the Onyx name and Logo were supposed to have been removed/destroyed before these defective parts were used to build RE Subwoofers. It is our companies ultimate goal to provide the best products possible, which can't be done using defective parts. Until our name and logo is removed from these parts, the customer is, in a matter of speaking, buying a defective Onyx product. Our products are considered to be very high-end, top quality speakers which means we only use the best parts available. If another companies chooses to follow a different path, that's fine by me as long as there is no association with Onyx. This is why we required the removal of our name and logo. Had our procedures been followed, non of this never would have been made public.
