Interesting..
Might be a bit of over-reacting here over this guys. Sorry, but you've got to listen to yourselves screaming like you just got totally scammed, when you had no idea there was anything up until now, and like was said, we don't know, nor will we know what the defect was.
Besides, if these subs have such a defective part in them, they would have failed by now.
The only legitimate beef here is between Onyx and Re, which I personally don't think that it is very classy to air it over a public forum.
BTW, interesting we have not had anyone come forward with a problem with their defective sub????

I just don't understand the logic. Again I have been happy with my re products. But I don't want to be taken advantage of either.

W7's and other more well known high end subs sell FAR MORE units than RE and other smaller companies. Thus more chances of consumer misuse and a higher rate of failures.

One thing is for sure, I will NEVER buy an RE product. In my opinion buying a driver with a motor that has been modified (logos ground off) is the same as buying a refurbished driver. Selling a driver that doesn't have all brand spanking new parts and claiming that it is new is an insult and lie to all customers. It's also pretty interesting that RE would purchase parts that another company thought was defective and decide they were good enough. Sure does show who has good standards and quality control and who doesn't.
It's also interesting that both eD and Onyx don't want to have anything to do with RE. I wonder if maybe there is more that they know that we don't. I would also be interested to see how many of these logos were actually ground off. Sounds to me like RE was much too worried about making a buck to worry about making people happy.
My conclusion: Stay away from RE. Onyx and eD have good quality control and are honest people who actually care about their customers.

i think not telling will hurt them the most
there internet companys that have been caught with there hands in the cookie jar
people will presume the worst if there not told differently
and are they going to say

1) They are required by law not to say anything so we will never know what it is (Either cosmetic, different specs, or a true defect).
Note: Isn't it the same law the required RE to grind off the logos?
2) As mentioned, no REs have yet come back from customers as defective yet (not that has been noted here anyway). Consider this: RE is fully aware of this current situation. If any of these products do show up to be defective, RE will have to bend over backwards to satisfy these customers - if they don't, then their name will live up to the smearing that is going on here. Re knows that currently people are losing faith in their product. In the best intrest of their company they are going to do everything possible to satisfy their customers (but one thing they cannot do is explain the defect - the whole legal issue). Trust that if there are problems RE will give the support needed. RE has had enough mud slung at it for now even if they did turn on the hose and make the mud pit.
